KBR has won a contract to provide construction services for ExxonMobil's new synthetics lubricant base stock facility located in Baytown TX. The facility is planned to be operational in 2013 and produce ExxonMobil Chemical's high-vicosity SpectraSyn Elite TM metallocene PAO base stock.
KBR's contract will focus on providing site work, civil, structural, pipe, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical installation, test and checkout services. Technip USA is the prime contractor responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of the new synthetics lubricant base stock facility.
KBR and Technip have successfully collaborated with each other on previous projects, such as ExxonMobil's Flare Gas Recovery Project in Beaumont, Texas. David Zimmerman, the Group President of KBR stated that the company is looking forward to working with Technip again and deliverying a world-class lubricant base stock facility for ExxonMobil.
