Avista Corp, an energy company involved in production and distribution of energy, has reported net income for the year ending December 31st 2011 as US$100.2 million. This suggests a rise in income for the company, who last year posted a net income of US$92.4 million. Broken down into quarters, the fourth quarter of 2011 saw Avista Corp gain a net income of US$24.6 million, which was lower than the same quarter of 2010, when Avista reported a net income of US$25.7 million.

President of Avista, Scott L. Morris said in a statement, "Avista had a good year in 2011, with consolidated earnings per share in the upper half of our guidance range. The improvement reflects higher earnings in each segment of our business. Above normal snowpack last winter and a cool and wet spring produced excellent river run-off conditions in 2011. This resulted in one of the best hydroelectric generation years on record."

Avista Corp is involved mainly in the production, transmission and distribution of energy, and provides electric services to 360,000 customers, and natural gas to 321,000. They are based in the United States, in the eastern Washington area, and also northern Idaho and southern and eastern Oregon.
