Belhaven brewer reports an 11% increase in sales to £152m

The Dunbar based brewer, Belhaven, has reported a record set of figures with sales increasing by 11% to total £152 million. In line with a strong increase in annual sales, the company also reported an 8.3% increase in operating profit.

Greene King purchased the East Lothian brewery in 2005 for £187 million and the overall group paralleled the success of their new acquisition by posting an increase in operating profit to total more than £100 million.

Belhaven has a rich history in Dunbar having brewed beer for more than 300 years and has grown to employ about 170 people from the local area.

Belhaven Best is among the 10 most popular alcoholic drinks in Scottish pubs and the although the pub business did slightly worse than the previous 12 months, the company said that the tenanted business was well prepared for any further economic pressure.
