UK bottled water production market to total £607.4 million

The UK bottled water production market is expecting revenue to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.4% over next five years, to total £607.4 million in 2017-18.

Industry conditions are expected to improve over 2012-13 due to warmer than average weather and the London Olympics but growth will remain relatively muted, with market revenue expected to grow by 1.9%.

In the five years through 2012-13, industry revenue is expected to decline 0.1% per annum to total £539.9 million.

Major players within the UK bottled water production market include, Highland Spring (Highland Spring, Gleneagles, Speyside Glenlivet), Nestle Waters UK (Buxton, Nestle Pure, Perrier, San Pellegrino), Princes Limited (Aqua Pura) and Eden Springs UK Ltd.

Other companies include Danone Waters, the largest producer of water sold in the United Kingdom, and is responsible for leading brands Evian, Volvic, Perrier and San Pellegrino. However, the company is not included in the major players of this industry because all of its water is bottled and sourced in France and Italy.

Future growth will need to be driven by savvy marketing and further innovation in products and packaging. Efforts to improve environmental image and the launch of new 'ethical' brands will be crucial to industry growth, as will better communication of health benefits, natural sources and convenience of bottled water to consumers.
