AdCare Health Systems is to acquire three nursing facilities in Arkansas for just over $27 million. AdCAre is a leading nursing home and assisted living organisation. The three Arkansas facilities have 439 beds and revenues of $422 million.

Included in the acquisition is a nursing facility close to an acute-care hospital, which has been recently renovated and can provide sub-acute services. The company has been on an M&A program recently, and the latest acquisition means the company has put under contract 54 facilities.

The company has been targeting facilities in the Midwest and Southern states of the US that have not had a traditional focus on post-acute services. In addition, AdCare is to complete the acquisition of at least 23 more facilities: five in Oklahoma and 15 facilities across the Southeast.

The US is the largest healthcare market in the world,with growth in healthcare spending due to expensive hospital care. US healthcare spending is forecast to grow at a CAGR of around 5% to 2013, according to market analysts.
