Online Retailers Fastest Growing Channel In United Arab Emirates

Online retailers represent the fastest growing retail channel group in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to a new industry report which assessed the sector's compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for 2010 at 39.67 percent.

The report, entitled "The Future of Retailing in UAE to 2015", finds that specialist retailers were the biggest gainers in the UAE's developing retail industry with a market share of 66.0 percent in 2010 followed by general retailers with 24.2 percent.

In product terms, food and grocery led the market in the UAE in 2010 with a market share of 36.9 percent, followed by apparel, accessories and luxury goods.

Online retailers will represent the fastest growing channel in the forecast period covered by the analysis of 2010-2015. Specialist retailers and general retailers will be the leading channel groups with a market share of 65.4 percent and 23.5 percent respectively. Apparel, accessories and luxury goods will be the fastest growing category group with a CAGR of 10.08 percent from 2010 through 2015.
