Homeland security technology company, Implant Sciences Corporation, has confirmed it has received a $1.3 million order from a Chinese organisation, for the provision of its Quantum SnifferTM QS-H150 technology. It is understood that the systems will be implemented into a transportation security system in a major city within southern China, although the client has not been identified.

Implant Sciences is focused on the sensor development and manufacture, for those organisations engaged in the defence, security and safety markets. The sensors are highly sensitive and are used to detect traces of explosives. Two variants of the Quantum Sniffer are currently available - the QS-H150, which is hand held, and the QS-B220, a benchtop system which was only made available this month. Both systems use IMS, or Ion Mobility Spectrometry, for the detection of trace amounts of narcotics, as well as military, commercial, improvised, and homemade explosives. Both formats are easy to use - essential in high throughput scenarios - and neither uses radiation to function.

Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Implant Sciences, Bruce Bower, explained: "We are very pleased with this order. The successful deployment of the QS-H150 for use in transportation security validates our technical and operational advantages. The continued selection of the Quantum Sniffer by a growing number of Chinese transportation agencies demonstrates the consistent quality and reliability of our solutions."

Implant Sciences' CEO, Glenn D. Bolduc, continued: "Transportation venues around the world have been targets for terrorist attacks, from Madrid, to London, to Mumbai. As a result, transportation security spending continues to be at the forefront of government priorities. The deployment of the Quantum Sniffer into the transportation security protocols of this major Chinese city, a first for us in this municipality, represents a new market penetrated by Implant Sciences. We are very appreciative of the efforts of our in-country distributor in securing this order as we continue our efforts to expand market penetration in China."
