The global radio frequency components market for consumer electronics has been forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.4% over the next five years to reach a market valuation of $17,123 million by 2017.
Radio frequency technology has been known of for decades but its application in the field of consumer electronics has picked up pace of late. This is predominantly down to its use in increasing mobility and communication devices and its usages in different associated devices.
The introduction of set top boxes for HD view, iPads, iPhones, and the other devices in recent times have helped the industry to introduce new type of RF components design and architecture over the previous years.
Developed regions such as Japan, China, and the US had enabled this technology with changed architecture of communication devices five years back, but now developing nations such as India, Brazil, and South Africa are launched these technologies as well.
At present, most of the favourable frequency bands are occupied by cell phones or by the government or unlicensed bands with limited transmission range. New devices such as tablets, head up displays, etc have to rely on less favourable frequency bands, which have more noise distribution than the allotted lower frequencies.
Key players operating in the global radio frequency components market include Skyworks Inc. (US), Murata Manufacturing (Japan), Triquint Semiconductors (US), AVAGO Technologies (US), RDA Microelectronics (China) and RF Micro devices (US).
