Glanbia is the largest dairy-products company in Ireland, and an important cheese maker in Europe, the UK, and the US. Through a joint venture with US-based Leprino Foods, the company operates Glanbia Cheese, the leading mozzarella cheese maker for the European pizza market.
The company has 5,312 milk suppliers supplying dairy based products to the company. Glanbia has sales and marketing joint venture with Conabia, to market dairy ingredients sourced from Ireland, Uruguay and other suppliers to a range of industrial customers in a number of countries in Latin America.
The Group has had a strong program of investment behind its growth strategy in recent years with E214 million invested in development opportunities since 2004. In January 2008, the company announced that it has entered into negotiations, which may lead to a transaction being concluded whereby the group will sell its Meats business to an MBO team.
